The 350-mile Oregon coastline is anything but mundane.  Populated by small and mid-size towns that have come to be known for their remote, resort-like atmosphere and their defiant ability to endure Mother Nature's coastal tempests, the Oregon Coast is a world unto itself.  Weather on the Oregon Coast can be variable.  Rain however, is a fact of life which supports a lush and fertile ecosystem and maintains a temperate rainforest.

Arch Cape, Oregon (Cannon Beach Park Extension) is the original location where cannons and wreckage were discovered from the USS Shark which sank off the mouth of the Columbia River in 1846, and from which Cannon Beach derives it's name.  Two more cannons were recently exposed in February 2008 after a series of winter storms.  Arch Cape is also the site of the first Cannon Beach Post Office.  A small residential community perfectly situated among several Oregon State parks, Arch Cape intrigues visitors with its exquisite beauty, coastal surroundings and relaxed semi-remote atmosphere.  Approximately 4-miles south of Cannon Beach, Arch Cape has all the benefits of convenience as well as the secluded nature of a coastal retreat.  Hikers have a plethora of trails and parks to explore within minutes of Arch Cape.  The Oregon Coast Trail passes through Arch Cape providing an easy means for experiencing Oregon's coastline by foot.  Oswald West State Park, just south of the cape, is nestled in a small cove that affords idyllic views of the beach, a comfortable setting for short hikes and is a haven for local surfers.  Hug Point State Park and Arcadia Beach, north of the cape, are favorite locations for learning about Oregon Coast's early history when residents traveled by stagecoach along the beach trail.

Nearby Cannon Beach, well known as a popular art colony and famous for its's awe-inspiring rock monoliths, is a delightful town of nooks and crannies, inviting paths, garden courtyards and laid-back unobtrusive commercial enterprises, all of which seem to feature the weathered facade of cedar and inviting window displays.

"A peaceful modern escape where hospitality abides."
